Case C only applies to you if you have submitted your thesis to the edoc server of Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and the doctoral regulations require the submission of four additional paper copies.
- We will receive from you four durable bound paper copies of the dissertation and an electronic version, the data format and data carrier of which must be coordinated with the university library. The specifications of the edoc server of the Humboldt University of Berlin are to be observed.
- We also receive the publication contract (contract form) for the publication of a text publication of the edoc server in duplicate.
Specifications for the paper copies:
- For printing, please be sure to use the PDF file accepted by the edoc server, which we will provide by e-mail!
- The paper used must be white and non-aging.
- Please make the paper copies on DIN A4 and print the pages on both sides.
- If the electronic document contains color pages, these must also be displayed in color in the paper copy (analogous to the PDF document).
- In the case of cumulative work, make sure that all articles are included in full.
- Make sure that the title page is complete (reviewers and date of defense must be indicated - see examples). You can use the sample title page of the doctoral regulations that apply to you as a guideline.
- Doctoral candidates are not permitted to use the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin logo in the publication of their dissertation.
- Please indicate - depending on the defense date - the president on the title page as follows:
- until 31.12.2021: Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dr. Sabine Kunst, President of Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin
- from 01.01.2022 - 30.09.2022: Prof. Dr. Peter Frensch, (acting) President of Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin
- from 01.10.2022: Prof. Dr. Julia von Blumenthal, President of Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin
- Personal data, such as place and date of birth, must be removed from the title page or from the entire document, as well as the curriculum vitae.
- Should the electronic submission on the edoc server contain a declaration of independence, this will also be included in the print copy, but will not be signed.
Binding specifications:
- The minimum binding requirement is Schwarzpappenbroschur/black cardboard broschur (also called Bibliotheksbroschur I or Steifbroschur).
- Please contact a professionally designated binding company. You will find a selection of bookbinders in Berlin and Brandenburg on the site of the Berlin Brandenburg Bookbinders Guild. Copy stores cannot produce the required bindings.
- Please note that above a certain size, your work must be bound in two volumes. This is decided by the bookbinder. If your work cannot be bound in one volume, please divide the work sensibly (for example, at the end of a chapter) and make another title page for the second volume.
- Binding: adhesive binding, fanned (no wire stitching, no use of staples or metal for binding)
- movable spine insert with fold
- covered cardboard cover
- color: F:585 (black)
- rounded corners
- Please mark the book binding (usually the back inner cover) with the bookbinder's company stamp.
- We reserve the right to return copies that are not bound correctly.
Note on the publication contract:
- We require two signed paper copies of the publication contract from you.
- Please note that only contracts signed by hand will be accepted. Contracts with digital or scanned signatures will not be accepted.
