Late Fees

Late fees apply if the loan period of the medium has been exceeded. You will receive the first three reminders by e-mail and all further reminders by mail. Overdue fines must be paid even if our reminder letters do not reach you.

4-week loan:

• Exceeding the loan period from the 5th day: 2,00 € per overdue item
• Exceeding the loan period from 19th day: additional 5,00 € per overdue item
• Exceeding the loan period from 33rd day: additional 13,00 € per overdue item

Day and short loan:

• Exceeding the loan period from the 1st day: 2,00 € per overdue item
• Exceeding the loan period from 5th day: additional 5,00 € per overdue item
• Exceeding the loan period from 33rd day: additional 13,00 € per overdue item

A delay in the payment of fees will result in the suspension of the library account after 31 days, as well as a fee amount of 15,00 € or more.

Interlibrary Loan Fees

Registered library users can place an interlibrary loan order online for a fee of 1.50 €. For international interlibrary loan or more extensive copy orders, additional charges are possible.

Fees for Media Loss / Media Damage

If you have lost or damaged a item, please fill out the loss/damage protocol (in German only).

Then submit this to the owning library, either via email or in person at the library. You can find the email address on our location pages. The library will take care of the replacement and bill you for the cost. Please refer to the protocol or fee schedule for fees.

Before submitting the protocol, all other outstanding fees must be paid and all overdue media must be returned.

Payment Options

• With Mensa card at all locations at the fee or lending machines.
• With debit and credit cards at the service counter in the Science Branch Library (Erwin-Schrödinger-Zentrum), the branch libraries Campus Nord, Foreign Languages/Literatures and in the Grimm-Zentrum.

• By bank transfer
  Please note: It may take 1-2 weeks until your transfer is received and your library account is cleared.
