German Studies

Information about the Holdings

The university library of Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin has collected materials on German Studies, including materials related to the study of German language and literature, since its inception in the year 1832 and the establishment of the Departmental Library for German Studies in 1887. The German Studies collection includes modern editions of German literature as well as textbooks and research literature in English and German relating to German Studies, teaching methodology of German language and literature, German literary study, and German linguistics.

Numerous library materials can be found at the Branch Library of German Studies and at the Jacob-und-Wilhelm-Grimm-Zentrum. In addition to books and printed journals, many electronic resources are provided. Please note that these digital forms can be viewed on your personal laptop only by connecting to the Wi-Fi network eduroam on campus or via VPN at home. E-books and e-journals can be accessed via our discovery portal Primus.
