The libraries’ collection on the broad scope of the field of mathematics covers all areas of mathematical research, and consists of contemporary as well as historical literature. It dates back to the former Berlin University and derived from the holdings of its mathematical seminar, from which it has flourished into a notable size of about 180,000 volumes. Since the mid-2000s, a vast amount of e-books is being added and doesn’t leave much to be desired, especially in the category of textbooks in German.
